Aubade & Lacroix

Pomp and circumstance

To set the tone for its 2016/17 Winter collection, Aubade teamed up with Christian Lacroix to reinterpret its mythical Idylle Parisienne line. This season it draws inspiration from the elegance and pomp of a Rococo sensibility, evoking the nostalgia of Versailles, the secrets of Marie Antoinette, and the luscious extravagance of bon vivant culture. Says Lacroix: “This collection is my Aubade, a tribute to all those Parisian muses around the world. I thought that our two worlds could meet -  a fine relationship between the nostalgia that I feel when I’m creating something, and the one conjured up by this lingerie brand name, which symbolizes a certain French, Parisian, refined tradition.”

To evoke these two aspirational worlds, Lacroix used floral patterns, old lace and acid pastels adorned with fuchsia and a clash of shocking pink and black. These two latter haute couture shades will be revealed this summer and at the end of the year: Sumptuous window dressing by artistic director Ali Madhavi will start in July for the Princesse Imperiale line and in mid-October for the Gardenia line. The average set from this stunning Christian Lacroix line will be priced in line with Aubade’s upscale Bahia couture range, at around 160 euros [or $169] – a small price to pay for magnificence beyond measure.
