Paris Fashion Week: Nexus of Haute Couture

Paris is always a good idea. – Audrey Hepburn

Does it bear repeating? Paris has been the nexus of creativity in fashion and haute couture since the 17th century. Lest we forget, the very word haute couture, never mind the industry itself, was born in France.

Paris Fashion Week carries on its noble international tradition, showcasing the brightest stars in the constellation of fashion this week. Organized by the Fédération Française de la Couture du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode, it will host 92 shows featuring Fall/Winter collections from March 1st to March 9, primarily at the Carrousel du Louvre. Twenty-five nationalities are represented here, with shows and events also taking place at the Palais de Tokyo and the Press Center, located in the alcôve Henrique Oliveira.

This season the Mairie de Paris will display flags and posters of the promotional campaign « La Mode Aime Paris » throughout the 15 days of Fashion Week. Designers Apartment will also hold its eighth session at Atelier Richelieu (60 rue de Richelieu, Paris 2e) from Thursday March 3rd until Wednesday March 9th.

Founded in 1973, The Fédération Française de la Couture du Prêt-à-Porter is presided over by Ralph Toledano and includes the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, the Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de mode, and the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine. Together, these trade associations comprise roughly 100 corporate members, all of which are internationally-known brands with strong export sales.

A Paris Fashion Week app is now available to download on the Apple Store and on the Google Store, as well as on the website www.paris-fashion-week.com !
